California Domestic Animal Crisis, Legislative Brief by Animal Rescuers For Change:
Dear Fellow California Rescue Organizations, Shelter Volunteers, Networkers, and Animal Advocates,
Animals are deeply important to many of us, and countless Californians work every day to protect their welfare. We are reaching out with urgency and determination in response to the escalating domestic animal crisis facing our state.
Animal Rescuers for Change (ARFC) was created with a single purpose: to ensure that frontline rescues and the public are part of California’s legislative conversation and that real, preventive solutions are advanced. We are currently engaging with multiple state legislators to identify sponsors for several critical initiatives that have repeatedly failed in prior sessions, including a California Spay–Neuter Fund, Shelter Transparency legislation, and Backyard Breeding & Shelter Overcrowding Prevention measures.
We ask for your help. Please review this legislative briefing and consider sharing it—or excerpts of it—with your elected officials. Your voice can help identify legislative champions and elevate the urgency of these issues. Animals across California are depending on our collective action.
Find your Legislator and their contact info — then tell them about the crisis:
Please, add your full name and address to your email to legislators. This is to confirm that you are a California Constituent. Please be courteous, when contacting Legislators and Elected Officials.
