ACT NOW: California Needs Stricter Illegal Breeders Laws and Regulations

The lack of regulation against backyard breeding directly contributes to overcrowding in California. Despite repeated attempts to pass bills addressing this issue, such as AB702 in 2021, AB2425 in 2024 pressure from lobbyists has caused these efforts to fail. It’s imperative that we rally public support to rebrand and reintroduce such bills to regulate and enforce backyard breeding, a major contributor to the state’s pet overpopulation crisis.

We must stand behind congressmen who have proposed breeding practices and urge them to continue introducing legislation to tackle the animal overpopulation crisis systematically. It’s crucial for all state leadership to vote in support of these laws for the well-being of our communities. Moreover, we must demand sufficient funding from taxpayer money to be allocated for enforcement and compliance as a top priority in 2024. Together, let’s ensure that this vital legislation receives the support and resources needed to make a positive impact on our communities.
